Kia Carens RP (2013-2018) Service Manual / Engine Mechanical System / Cylinder Head Assembly / Cylinder Head Cover Repair procedures

Removal
1.
Remove the engine cover.
2.
Disconnect the battery negative terminal.
3.
Disconnect the intake OCV(Oil Control Valve)connector, exhaust OCV(Oil Control Valve)connector, and then remove exhaust OCV valve.
(Refer to Engine Control/Fuel System - "CVVT Oil Control Valve")
4.
Remove the ignition coil.
(Refer to Engine Eletrical System-"Ignition Coil")
5.
Disconnect the injector extension connector, the VIS (Variable intake system) connector and the PCSV (Purge control solenoid valve) connector.
(Refer to Engine Control/Fuel System - "Engine Control System")
6.
Remove the FPCV (Fuel pressure control valve) connector, the intake CMPS (Camshaft position sensor) connector and the exhaust CMPS (Camshaft position sensor) connector, oxygen sensor connectors.
(Refer to Engine Control/Fuel System - "CVVT Oil Control Valve")
7.
Remove the PCV(Positiv Crankcase Ventilation) hose (A).

8.
Remove the high pressure fuel pump.
(Refer to Engine Control/Fuel System - "High Pressure Fuel Pump")
9.
Remove the cylinder head cover(A), gasket(B).

Installation
1.
Install the cylinder head cover (A) with a new gasket (B).

  
Do not reuse the disassembled gasket.
2.
Tighten the cylinder head cover bolts (A) with the order and steps.
Tightening torque :
1st step: 3.9 ~ 5.9 N.m (0.4 ~ 0.6 kgf.m, 2.9 ~ 4.3 lb-ft)
2nd step: 7.8 ~ 9.8 N.m (0.8 ~ 1.0 kgf.m, 5.8 ~ 7.2 lb-ft)

3.
Install the high pressure fuel pump.
(Refer to Engine Control/Fuel System - "High Pressure Fuel Pump")
4.
Install the PCV(Positiv Crankcase Ventilation) hose (A).

5.
Install the FPCV (Fuel pressure control valve) connector, the intake CMPS (Camshaft position sensor) connector and the exhaust CMPS (Camshaft position sensor) connector, oxygen sensor connectors.
(Refer to Engine Control/Fuel System - "CVVT Oil Control Valve")
6.
Install the injector extension connector, the VIS (Variable intake system) connector and the PCSV (Purge control solenoid valve) connector.
(Refer to Engine Control/Fuel System - "Engine Control System")
7.
Install the ignition coil.
(Refer to Engine Eletrical System-"Ignition Coil")
8.
Install the intake OCV(Oil Control Valve)connector, exhaust OCV(Oil Control Valve)connector, and then remove exhaust OCV valve.
(Refer to Engine Control/Fuel System - "CVVT Oil Control Valve")
9.
Install the battery negative terminal.
10.
Install the engine cover.
